Internet Dreamer : Time to live the dream
Monday November 26th 2007, 11:27 am

How many bad days at the office do you need before you realise it's time to jump ship? On a daily basis I find myself fantasising about telling my boss where to stick it, his job that is! So on the 20th December 2007, I plan to do just that. Maybe a little sooner if they find this site! ;)

So who will be my next employer? Thats where the dreamer comes into play, I've always wanted to work for myself so the plan: One Woman. One Dream. One Million. One Year.

The only rule I've given myself is that the money has to be made through the internet, so I'll be doing everything from online advertising, developing my own websites, signing up to affiliate schemes and designing web sites for clients.

Although the thought of leaving work and living the dream is an attractive one I have a mortgage and don't have the luxary of having a partners income to rely on. When the day comes to resign I'm sure the butterflys in my stomach will be from the excitement of jumping ship although for the first few months no doubt I'll be flapping around in the water and gasping for breath, but eventually the day will come where I swim to a desert island and work on my tan! :)

Here goes everything ...

I just found your site, and this entry here reminded me of the loathing I experienced at my last job and the desire to also find my fortune on the internet.

I don't think you'll have any problems, seeing how you are web savvy. Your site is really nice, and you have a huge advantageous in that you are your own developer. I know nothing about coding and pay-per-clicks, etc., so I'm trying to learn everything from scratch. It's especially inspiring to read a blog on a woman tackling this journey when a lot of successful internet entrepreneurs I read about are usually men.

Toni,

I wish you all the best.
Needless to say this is my dream too, I have been working on it since July and I could not make enough to quit my 9-17 job yet.
I will look forward to see what you will do and how you will be doing.
I hope your dream will come true.

Francesco

Could you not stay in your full time job and work on your sites for 2 hours a day? See if it works for you and decide from there? I agree with Lisa you may end up having to work 20 hour days to make what you make now.

I don't want to scare you but I did something similar, I thought I knew it all and that it would be easy to make money from the Intenet. The truth is that it was a real battle, I ended up working more hours than I did in my normal job and after 3 months I was back in full time employment.

I will keep an eye on your blog and see how well you do. I looked through your sites and you seem to be making community sites rather than doing it the adsense way which is interesting.

Good luck, hope it all goes better for you than it did for me, I have emailed you my email addy, would be nice to speak on msn some time.
